Fund for 2021
This fund provides support for the reopening of the Pride Arts Center, and the launching of a new season.

Jay Españo, an actor, singer and director with experience in both film and live performance, has been recently appointed Artistic Director of PrideArts. Españo, who was born in Manila in the Philippines, earned an MFA degree from Columbia College Chicago and he has worked with several Chicago theater companies. He also toured nationally in THE KING AND I.

His new season connects queer community members and friends in our universal search for identity. Robert Ollis, PrideArts’ Jeff Award winning musical director, will work with Jay to open the season with the American premiere of a musical from Australia THE THINGS I COULD NEVER TELL STEVEN. Other works to follow include the Chicago premieres of plays by Peter Quilter of Great Britain and Frances Poet of Scotland, and a world premiere about Ruth Bader Ginsburg by American Sally Deering.

Running in conjunction with our live performances will be a year of film fest and theater events streaming online. These start with the Summer Shorts Film Fest July 8 to August 8 which features 29 short films and the Chicago premiere of the film fest favorite BOY MEETS BOY.

In short, you will be able to attend a PrideArts experience either live or on-line nearly every week of the year!

Now, we are continuing our fund-raising push through the end of the July, hoping to reach our $20,000 goal for the relaunch and new season.

Thanks so much for your help.
