ORI I TAHITI, a professional Tahitian dance company, was created in 2011 by Teraurii PIRITUA.
First participation was at the HEIVA I TAHITI festival in 2012, ORI I TAHITI ranked second in the HURA AVA TAU category, which used to be known as the “amateurs” category.
The following year, ORI I TAHITI took first place at the HEIVA I TAHITI 2013 in the HURA AVA TAU category.
That very same year, the dance company won second place in the MEHURA category during the HURA TAPAIRU which is another major festival in Tahiti. In 2015, ORI I TAHITI participated, as a professional dance group, during the HEIVA I TAHITI.
The troop won best costume made with plant material, a special price for “the beauty of the dance”, second price for best female dancer and third price for best male dancer.
