The Glass House
199 Elm Street
Glass House Presents is an ongoing series of public programs — including conversations, performances, and gatherings — that sustain the site’s historic role as a meeting place for artists, architects, and other creative minds.
Saturday, September 17, 4:30 - 7:00 p.m.
The members of the all-star Artifacts Trio – cellist Tomeka Reid, flutist Nicole Mitchell, and drummer Mike Reed – are torchbearers of Chicago's innovative jazz scene, as well as members and educators of The Association for the Advancement of Creative Music (AACM), a historically important Chicago arts organization. Their music both touches upon and advances the organization’s motto, “Ancient to the Future,” and celebrates African American culture while reaching across genres and integrating new ideas into the legacy of jazz, experimentalism, and composition.
On the occasion of David Hartt: A Colored Garden, Artifacts Trio will perform original compositions from their latest album "...and then there's this", released on Astral Spirit Records. Hartt collaborated with Reid and Mitchell on the scores for his films, including Et in Arcadia Ego (2022), which features Reid.
