DONATION CAMPAIGNS
The Philip Johnson Glass House
The Glass House relies on the support of donors to maintain a site of international significance and a unique cultural asset. Your donation helps us preserve this historic place and develop new programs and educational initiatives. We are grateful for your support.

Donations at every level are welcome! If you would like to speak with a member of the Glass House staff, please contact Scott Drevnig, Deputy Director, at 203-978-3005 or SDrevnig@theglasshouse.org.

Brick House Restoration Fund
Designed as part of the original composition of the site by Philip Johnson in 1949, the Brick House serves as a counterpoint to the transparency of the Glass House and is integral to the understanding of the Glass House campus. Unfortunately, the Brick House has been closed since 2008 due to water damage. Marking our largest and most complex restoration to date, we have divided the project into three phases. We have successfully raised funds for the first part of the restoration campaign and Phase 1 of the project (sealing the envelope) will begin in the next few months. Your contribution towards Phases II and III will bring us that much closer to re-opening the Brick House. Please consider a donation today in support of our preservation work.

While the exterior envelope is in good condition, the building has suffered from high levels of moisture due to poor site drainage, inadequate foundation waterproofing, breaches in the main roof and flashing as well as a lack of an interior ventilation system. This has resulted in mold affecting the windows, doors, interior finishes and collections, including the silk wall coverings, textiles, furniture, artwork and books.

The Brick House Restoration Project includes exterior and interior restoration of the building, conservation of the interior finishes and collections, and mechanical upgrades and improvements. The scope of work also includes site drainage improvements appropriate to the landscape of the site.

Thank you for your support.
