Artistic Directors Genevieve Carson & Charles Slender-White
Friday, September 29, 2017 at 8:30PM

THE LOS ANGELES THEATRE CENTER
514 South Spring Street
Los Angeles, CA 90013

A shared program of dynamic new works by LACDC and San Francisco's FACT SF. Featuring brand new commissions by Genevieve Carson, Nathan Makolandra and Charles Slender-White.

LACDC will present the world premiere of NOMAD.LORE., choreographed by Nathan Makolandra, and excerpts of Genevieve Carson’s newest work, Stimulaze. NOMAD.LORE. is an exploration of the universal journey of the hero, delving into the herculean efforts we make along our life journey, and how those efforts define our existence. The piece features an original composition by San Francisco’s New Villager. Stimulaze is an energetic and quirky quartet featuring solo and group work that unexpectedly tangles together and falls apart. The dancers are challenged to grapple with feelings of frustration and ultimately required to question their own motivation to “engage”.

FACT/SF will present their Los Angeles premieres of Remains and an(n)a.11. Remains is a surreal ensemble work about death that looks at the complicated relationship between individual and communal mourning. Remains is the first work in Slender-White’s diptych on death and loss. an(n)a.11 is Slender-White’s continuation of his multi-year solo project to Bach’s Partita for violin where he will premiere his most recent examination of identity and self-perception.

LACDC is a non-profit repertory dance company that offers Los Angeles professional and innovative dance experiences throughout the year. LACDC performs a diverse repertoire of contemporary and cutting edge work representative of L.A.’s vibrant culture. By affording choreographers and dancers the opportunity to create concert length work in an experimental and collaborative environment, LACDC strives to foster the development of new forms in the contemporary dance genre relevant to today’s audiences. www.ladanceco.org

FACT/SF is a San Francisco-based contemporary dance company, founded in 2008 by Artistic Director Charles Slender-White as a platform for organizing collaborators, building community, and creating choreography. FACT/SF regularly performs in the San Francisco Bay Area, maintains a core group of local collaborators, and has developed an extensive international network of colleagues and partners. In addition to presenting the works of Slender-White, FACT/SF supports and engages with the field through three programs: JuMP, PORT, and the annual FACT/SF Summer Dance Lab. http://www.factsf.org
