Artists gotta art. And making art does not stop because of a pandemic or protest. Instead, the arts must respond and reflect on this extraordinary moment in history. Join us as we curate a multi-disciplinary evening of original work created and shared by some of the most talented artists throughout the Northwestern Community. Call & Response, a Virtual Open Mic presented by the Wirtz Center for the Performing Arts has invited Northwestern University undergraduate and graduate artists of all disciplines to submit a brief virtual work. All artistic explorations submitted are asked to be in conversation with the Global Pandemic, Black Lives Matter Movement, and any point of view related to the current moment in which we collectively find ourselves. The performances are intended to showcase the wide range of perspectives at Northwestern. Each piece should be a maximum of 2-minutes and can include but should not be limited to: acting, clowning, poetry, dancing, comedy, music, design, or film. This is an opportunity for our students to artistically engage with this moment and respond in their own creative way. These works will be filmed, edited and submitted by interested artists using their own devices and equipment to film and edit their work.
