Ranch Field Trip

A new format of our annual Ranch Day, these visits are intended to provide visitors with an in-depth experience of Donald Judd’s engagement with the land at his ranch, Ayala de Chinati, outside of Marfa, Texas. Each Ranch Field Trip will be limited to forty guests in order to facilitate greater individual experience and preserve the ranch.

Please note, Ranch Field Trips are a morning excursion and require driving to Casa Perez. Attendees are encouraged to carpool. High clearance vehicles required.

Volunteer Session

Visitors may join optional volunteer sessions after lunch. The volunteer session is optional for attendees and may require light lifting. Please confirm if you plan to volunteer to marfa@juddfoundation.org.

Schedule

10:00am departure from Judd Foundation Print Building, located at 104 South Highland Avenue

11:00am arrival to Casa Perez

11:00-11:45am arroyo walk

11:45am-12:30pm open hours exploration and group lunch

12:30-1:00pm land talk

1:00-2:00pm volunteer session

2:00pm departure

Lunch will be provided and visitors are encouraged to bring a water bottle, hat, and sunscreen.

Visitor Guidelines

By joining the Ranch Field Trip, visitors agree to abide by these guidelines:

  ·  Please help us preserve our spaces and collection by not touching the works or objects.

  ·  Please help us preserve the land by not removing plants and rocks from the grounds unless part of the volunteer session work.

  ·  Guided visits include walking on coarse gravel and uneven ground. Sensible footwear is recommended.

  ·  Pets and support animals are not permitted. ADA recognized service animals required are welcome.

  ·  Visitors are responsible to carry in and carry out as the land is part of a conservation easement.
