11:00 am Museum Visit + Awards Ceremony
Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11:00AM

The Community Library
415 Spruce Avenue North
Ketchum, ID 83340

Event will be held in Ketchum, Idaho.

Since 1977, Preservation Idaho has hosted the Orchids and Onions awards, an awards ceremony designed to celebrate those individuals and organizations that have made a positive contribution to historic preservation, and in turn to bring awareness to those projects that have shown insensitivity to the state’s cultural history.

Doors for the awards ceremony will open at 2:30 where guests will have the opportunity to view the Community Library's Hemingway Collection.

The awards ceremony will begin at 3:30pm with a reception to follow, concluding by 5:30pm.

Your ticket to the awards ceremony also provides the opportunity for a private tour of the Sun Valley Museum of History, including some areas not usually open to the public.

Located in the historic Forest Service Park, the museum buildings feature two exhibition spaces and a collections center. Under the library’s direction, the 1933 buildings, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, showcase exhibits that detail the region’s cultural heritage: from the first inhabitants, to miners and ranchers, to destination skiers, to artists and athletes.

Private Tours will be held at 11 AM, 12 PM, and 1 PM.
You must be registered for the tour. The 30-minute tour will include:
The history of the seven Ketchum Ranger District buildings
The warehouse, including the interior of the building
A tour of “Railroad Ties: tracking the history of Sun Valley”
A tour of “Ernest Hemingway: At Home in Idaho,”
