The Wirtz Center of Performing and Media Arts in downtown Chicago presents:
AN EVENING WITH UNIVERSES
Friday, October 28, 2022 at 7:00PM

Wirtz Theater in Abbott Hall
Chicago Campus of Northwestern University
710 N. Lake Shore Drive
Chicago, IL 60611
Located in the Virginia Wadsworth Wirtz Center for Performing and Media Arts inside Abbott Hall on the downtown Chicago Campus of Northwestern University. Main entrance located on the southeast corner of Lake Shore Drive and Superior Street.

The Wirtz Center will no longer check proof of vaccination; however, masks will be required inside the theatre for performances.

Writers and performers Steven Sapp and Mildred Ruiz-Sapp, founders of the award-winning theatre company Universes, fuse poetry, theatre, music, and dance to tell stories of struggle, resistance, and the power of collective action. Their 2009 production Ameriville, drew on Hurricane Katrina to explore deep-seated histories of racism, disinvestment and violence that shape American identity. Their 2012 play Party People explored the complicated legacies of the Black Panther Party and the Young Lords, based on extensive interviews with members of these society-changing groups. In this intimate evening in the Wirtz Center of Performing and Media Arts in downtown Chicago, Steven and Mildred will share excerpts from their body of acclaimed work, as well as new work in development, including a project about the history and legacy of House Music.

This event is being presented on the CHICAGO CAMPUS, not the Evanston Campus.
