The Batuke Samba Funk project was created in 2010 by the Brazilian bassist, composer Diogo Brown, who invited the singer Mari Macedo and the musicians Cezar Santana (guitar), Adriano De Borba (cavaco). Between January and February 2014, Silas Silva Filho (drummer) joined the band, completing project. The idea of the project is to "Brazilianize" American sounds and "Americanize" Brazilian sounds in a combination of the two cultures, Funk and Samba, increasingly promoting Brazilian culture in the world with dance and an engaging melody.
The repertoire ranges from Jorge Ben Jor, Bezerra da Silva, Bill Withers, Seu Jorge, Fundo De Quintal and Arlindo Cruz to , Lauryn Hill, James Brown, Lenny Kravitz, Trio Mocotó, among several original songs.

Most of the songs are composed by Diogo Brown, Cezar Santana, Adriano Borba and Mari Macedo. One of the songs, "Soul Carioca", is the title of the CD and was released as a single on iTunes, Spotify and Youtube.

In addition to the shows in the United States the band is on the way to the first Tour in Brazil to release the CD and Clip SOUL CARIOCA. The clip was recorded between the Favela of Santa Marta, in Rio de Janeiro, and Miami.
