Jared T. Hall, the winner of the Jazz Division’s 2013 National Trumpet Competition and 2008 Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival’s Outstanding Trumpet Award, is recognized as a contemporary and melodic performer. Jared has performed with Bob Hurst, Peter Erskine, Dave Liebman, Alan Pasqua, Brian Lynch, Ira Sullivan, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Arturo Sandoval, Maria Schneider, Terence Blanchard, and Fred Hersch. He has also shared the stage with Chick Corea, Bobby McFerrin, George Benson, Kenny Garrett, Eric Reed, Ingrid Jensen, Obed Calvaire, Scott Wendholt, Randy Brecker, Wayne Bergeron, Kevin Spacey, Gloria Estefan, and Robin Eubanks.
A native of the Pacific Northwest, Jared studied trumpet with Dan Keberle at Whitworth University in his hometown of Spokane, Washington while conducting a trumpet studio and performing in the areas top Jazz ensembles including the Bob Curnow Big Band, Spokane Jazz Orchestra, and Six Foot Swing. Finishing his master’s degree in Jazz studies as an Assistant Instructor at Indiana University under David Baker, Jared studied with Michael Spiro, Joey Tartell, and Pat Harbison. The following year Jared received a teaching assistantship under Grammy Award winning trumpeter and composer Brian Lynch and Henry Mancini Institute Fellowship at the University of Miami. Studying with Brian Lynch and Terence Blanchard, Jared worked extensively in the straight-ahead, commercial, and Latin Jazz scene in Miami including performing with The Woody Herman Band, South Florida Jazz Orchestra, Frost Concert Jazz Band, Henry Mancini Jazz Septet directed by Terence Blanchard, Brian Lynch’s Artist Ensemble, and many others.
Jared performed at the Latin Jazz Traditions Concert with Paquito D'Rivera at Carnegie Hall and with the Frost Concert Jazz Band at the 57th Annual Monterey Jazz Festival in 2014. He performed at the 2016 Jazz Education Network (JEN) Conference with Brian Lynch’s Madera Latino: The Latin Side of Woody Shaw, 2014 JEN Conference with the University of Miami Afro-Caribbean Artist Ensemble with Brian Lynch, 2013 JEN Conference with the University of Miami Concert Jazz Band, and 2012 JEN Conference with Mixteto Sonido (Latin Jazz sextet).
