Romeo and Juliet (Sensory Friendly)
by William Shakespeare
Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 2:00PM

Tina Packer Playhouse
70 Kemble Street
Lenox, MA 01240

Shakespeare’s tragic love story Romeo and Juliet will be presented as a sensory-friendly performance on Saturday, March 25 at 2 pm, featuring the cast of the Northeast Regional Tour of Shakespeare.

Sensory-friendly performances have been adapted to be less overwhelming to the senses, designed to welcome individuals with various sensory needs including people on the autism spectrum; those living with cognitive, social, or physical challenges; first-time theatergoers, and others. This production of Romeo and Juliet has been developed to share Shakespeare's story in 90 minutes in a more comfortable environment that includes reduced-intensity lighting and sound effects; dimmed house lights for the duration of the performance; pre-show materials that include story synopses, theater maps, and other “what to expect” content.

A pre-show visit will be held on Friday, March 24, from 1:30 – 2:30 pm, offering an opportunity for anyone to visit the theater and become familiar with the space, actors, costumes, weapons, and other components of the theater experience.

This performance of Romeo and Juliet is generously supported by a grant from the GKV Foundation.

The Northeast Regional Tour of Shakespeare’s production of Romeo and Juliet is part of Shakespeare in American Communities, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest.
