As a 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization, Baryshnikov Arts relies on generous contributions to support artists across all artistic genres in creating, developing, and/or presenting their work while maintaining affordable ticket prices for an inclusive audience. Donations, at any level, are vital to our mission of inspiring, incubating, nurturing, and supporting courageous artists and adventurous audiences through residencies, education initiatives, commissions, performances, production, and economic development.

Each season, Baryshnikov Arts commissions 8-10 artists to create new works to be presented on our stages. Past commissions have included: Woolgathering, a spoken-word opera directed and composed by Oliver Tompkins Ray based on Patti Smith’s book of the same name; Origins, a show conceived by multidisciplinary performance group PRISMA and uniquely combining beatboxing, classical string music, and contemporary and hip-hop dance; and Jeux/A Child’s Tale, Christopher Williams’ queer-focused reimaginings of two ballets from a series originally performed by Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes.

In addition to all Leader level benefits, generous supporters at the New Works Circle level will be recognized in our press release, on our website and in the event program of the performance made possible by their donation and will receive an exclusive invitation to the show’s dress rehearsal and opening night.
