Donations help ensure the future of the Sands Point Preserve, a 216-acre Gatsby-era estate, now a beautiful public park on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Conservancy welcomes members, donors, program sponsors, and volunteers – you bring vital resources to the programming and services that we provide to the community, and you make the maintenance of the buildings and grounds as well as capital improvements possible.

Your financial support impacts directly on all of the work we do – expanding nature education for children, adults, and families with special needs; co-curricular school programs; fitness and wellness sessions; and performing arts events. We can undertake important projects, including the ongoing repair and renovation of the mansions.

Nassau County provides only 2% of our annual operating budget, therefore private contributions are essential in our work to preserve the site and to reach our future goals.

When you become a member or make a tax-deductible charitable contribution to the Sands Point Preserve Conservancy, you become an active participant in this unique historic venue and natural resource.
Education Programming Fund
The Education Programming Fund supports year-round discovery for all ages and interests across the preserve:

Co-curricular programs for school visits (K-12)

Original STEAM-based nature programs for children

Horticultural programs at the new organic vegetable garden and fruit tree orchard

Custom programs for families with special needs

Expanded after-school classes for pre-K through middle school, including the new Earth Expeditions weekly experience for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders

Expanded adult nature classes, including overnight survival courses

Fitness and wellness

The annual White Party is our most important fundraising event to support ongoing and new education programs, but please consider supporting these initiatives with a tax-deductible contribution to the Education Programming Fund at any time during the year. For information, please contact

Midsummer Night's Dream Gala

The Conservancy is thrilled to host our first gala as we emerge from the pandemic: Midsummer Night's Dream! Join us for this exquisite summer party to raise funds for the Preserve. Dinner and dancing in the Rose Garden under a starry sky - definitely a dream to share!

We are celebrating the Sands Point Preserve's magnificent natural environment - the gardens, lawns, forest, pond, and beachfront - the nurturing outdoor spaces that helped so many through the most difficult times of the pandemic.

Drawing inspiration from Shakespeare's marvelous play, we're adding a dash of magic to the evening... Titania, Queen of the Fairies, will hold court during dinner - magically airborne - while Peaseblossom, Cobweb, and Mustardseed cause mischief on the grounds. Fairy children will deliver Shakespeare's messages of love to your table!

Tribute Orchard
A beautiful fruit tree orchard has been planted near the organic vegetable garden, on a sunny hill next to Hempstead House overlooking the Long Island Sound. The orchard not only enhances the Preserve’s grounds – it is a resource for our horticultural education programs, and its produce of fresh, healthy fruit will be donated to people in need throughout our community.

Honor your family or memorialize a loved one with a living tribute of a fruit-bearing tree that can be enjoyed today and for generations to come. The orchard is comprised of apple, cherry, peach, and pear trees. A tax-deductible donation of $2,500 covers the cost and ongoing care of one tree and a plaque that can be inscribed with your custom message.

Please make your donation online or call 516.570.2248.

Thank you!
