Developmental Reading Series Donation Fund
The York presents more than thirty readings of new musicals a year, giving writers, performers, and audiences the opportunity to see musicals come to life right off the page. Give to our Developmental Reading Series and help continue the future of musical theater!
Musical Theatre Training Program (MTTP)
Each summer and winter, The York hosts its Musical Theatre Training Program (MTTP), bringing students from all over the country and the world to study with the industry's top artists. By supporting MTTP, you will be giving an inspirational opportunity to a gifted young student.
Production Support
Producing a fully-staged musical at The York costs, on average, $450,000. In addition to grants and corporate support, we greatly depend on generous individual contributions. By giving towards Production Support, your donation will directly influence bringing our musicals to life.
NEO (new emerging outstanding)
Each year, new, emerging, and outstanding musical theatre writers or teams are selected for The York's NEO program. By giving to NEO, you are helping The York to support, mentor, and showcase the next generation of great musical theatre writing talent.
Mildred Kayden Fund
Mildred Kayden was a gifted composer whose musicals Ionescopade and Storyville were seen on The York's stage; she was also passionate about educating younger generations of music and theatre artists. A generous donation has been made to seed a fund in her memory to provide scholarships to MTTP students and to support emerging female musical theatre writers as part of the NEO program. By giving to the Mildred Kayden Fund, you are keeping her passion and legacy alive.
Sally Smith Fund
Sally Smith was a devoted patron and longtime board member of The York who preferred to make her contributions behind the scenes, as part of the technical crew in the company's early days. This fund established in her memory helps The York to cover the costs for all of the things that happen backstage for the show to happen: set design and construction, lighting, sound, and much more. Giving to the Sally Smith Fund helps with all of these things that are necessary but often overlooked in the creation of musical theatre.
Rhoda Goldberg Fund
Longtime board member Robert Goldberg started this fund in honor of his mother, Rhoda. The York honors both of their memories with this fund, and are accepting donations in their memory.
The Austin Graham Memorial Fund
The York honors the memory of longtime York Theatre Company board member and supporter Austin Graham.
Austin Andrew Graham, Jr., age 89, peacefully passed away at his home in New York City surrounded by his family on Friday, December 28, 2018. He served as a Lieutenant in the Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in January 1955. Austin graduated from Fordham University and was a Merrill Lynch Stock Broker with a career spanning over six decades. His favorite pastime was baseball and was captain of the Merrill Lynch team where he earned the nickname "Commissioner" of which he used liberally throughout his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to The York Theatre Company of NYC.

Muftis at the York
Join us in supporting the Musicals in Muftis Series at the York! These staged concert readings of musical theater gems of the past are an important part of the York's work, and they cannot take place without your support. Thank you for your generosity!
The Musicals in Mufti Series presents three to five concert revival readings of underappreciated Broadway musicals for 11 performances each. "Mufti" means "in everyday clothes, without all the trappings of a large production," and each show is presented script-in-hand, with minimal staging. The series has celebrated such writers as Richard Rodgers, George Abbott, Jerry Herman, Joseph Stein, Sheldon Harnick, Jule Styne, and, most recently, Alan Jay Lerner.

The Felicia Needleman Memorial Fund
The York Theatre Company is proud to honor the memory of talented lyricist-librettist Felicia Needleman.
Felicia, who was the longtime collaborator of York Board member Laurence Holzman, passed away on July 18, 2023 after a battle with metastatic breast cancer.
The duo’s holiday musical revue, That Time of the Year, was one of our mainstage productions in 2006, and returned for a brief concert run in 2009. Their show, One Night, was part of our Developmental Readings Series, as was their original musical comedy, The Jerusalem Syndrome, which will be presented again this coming fall as part of our Mainstage season.
This fund will help to keep Felicia’s passion and legacy alive by bringing The Jerusalem Syndrome to our stage and helping the York in its mission to continue to produce original musicals.

Micki Grant Artists in Residence Program
The Micki Grant Artists in Residence Program honors the first woman to write both music and lyrics and star in her own musical on Broadway — and the first woman to get a Tony Nominations in these categories. Her contributions to musical theatre remain a testament to her visionary artistry and advocacy for inclusivity and the York is dedicated to carrying her legacy forward. This trailblazing program supports early-career creators from historically underrepresented groups in American theater, amplifying their voices through this annual award. Each resident artist will be partnered with professional mentors across all aspects of theater: playwrights, composers, directors, designers, performers, admin...offering hands-on experience to refine and build their own creative, theatrical voices. This is where the future Artistic leaders of tomorrow will come from. Join us in supporting them!
