Created to honor the legacy of our Co-Founder and Artistic Director Emeritus Stephen Sachs. An extraordinary and gifted playwright, Stephen led The Fountain for 34 years. Throughout his tenure, he wrote several powerful plays that focused on telling stories that “dramatized urgent political and social issues relevant to our time.” The Stephen Sachs Playwright in Residence Fellowship will be given annually to a Los Angeles based playwright to support the development of a new work that will be fully produced as part of The Fountain Theatre season.
