Cara Mia Theatre Co.

Dear Friends,

As Cara Mía Theatre celebrates its 30th Anniversary Season, we honor three decades of bold artistry, cultural connection, and transformative community impact—while looking ahead to an ambitious new chapter. With exceptional audience engagement, international collaborations, and programs that empower young people, Cara Mía continues to grow as a vital home for Latinx theatre across Dallas and North Texas.

This anniversary has inspired a simple belief that guides our work: philanthropy is an act of creation. Every gift helps bring new stories to life, empowers artists and young people, and strengthens the communities we serve. That's why this year we're celebrating you, the Donor as Creator—because your generosity doesn't simply sustain our work, it helps create it. The Cara Mía Theatre Fund sustains this momentum by supporting our three core pillars—Plays, Education, and Community Engagement. This growth is possible because of supporters like you.

Your gift, whether one-time, monthly, or annual, helps Cara Mía expand its artistic and educational programs, reach more students, families, and audiences, and strengthen the community we have built together. As we celebrate 30 years, join us in nurturing a vibrant national home for Latinx theatre and empowering the next generation to create boldly, lead with purpose, and shape the future of our communities, and the arts.

With gratitude,
David Lozano
Executive Artistic Director

Jesse Tafalla Jr. Scholarship Fund
Cara Mia Theatre announces the inaugural year of the Jesse Tafalla, Jr. Scholarship Fund to provide college scholarships and general support for high school seniors participating in the School of YES! leadership program.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to make college a reality for high school seniors who are graduating from Cara Mia Theatre's innovative leadership program at the School of YES!

The Jesse Tafalla, Jr. Scholarship Fund is named in honor of our late beloved board member, Jesse Tafalla, Jr. He developed his love for Latino theatre because of his father who was a transformational executive director and board member of Teatro Dallas. Jesse often said that being involved with Cara Mía Theatre was a way to continue his father’s legacy.

Jesse lived to serve his community. He was an active member of many organizations including Rainbow LULAC, Stonewall Democrats, Dallas County Democratic Party, and the MLK Jr. Community Center Board. He was a champion of numerous social causes and political campaigns, encouraging those around him to engage in electrical politics and community actions. Above all, his love for family and friends was unconditional. He was always present for special occasions and to lend a hand of support.

This scholarship fund is our way to honor him and encourage young leaders to follow his example of love and service for others each and every day.
