Cara Mia Theatre Co.
Cara Mía Theatre is a non-profit theatre company offering vibrant theatre and fine-arts education throughout Dallas/Fort Worth.
Our next play, Swimming While Drowning, is by Detroit playwright Emilio Rodríguez. The play explores gender and survival within the gay and trans community for two homeless teenage boys. It’s a powerful and timely piece that opens November 30th. Our community conversation is on December 7th.
And The House on Mango Street opens in February 2020. It is Sandra Cisneros' most famous book about Mexican and Chicana girls coming of age in Chicago.
In addition to our regular season of professional plays, every week our actors are in a school, library or community center with plays and education programs for youth and adults - touching over 33,000 on an annual basis.
Our plays and programs tell stories through a Latinx lens, stimulate conversations, and build community.
