A Dozen Dreams
The vision for A Dozen Dreams began soon after the initial shutdown in March 2020. And now, more than a year later, after the tireless work by over dozens of artists and even more technicians and crew, En Garde Arts is finally able to bring it to full life.
We are so excited to be able to share this live in-person theatrical installation with you. And we are deeply grateful that with the support of Arts Brookfield we can offer A Dozen Dreams FREE to the public.
And yet, it is the support of our individual donors that allows us to work with so many incredible artists and offer them fair wages. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to En Garde Arts so we may continue to produce and present bold theatre experiences that reach across artistic, physical and social boundaries.
En Garde Arts
When the pandemic shut down theatres across the country, we harkened back to our site-specific roots and are excited to share that we have two major projects happening in May 2021. These projects will be employing nearly 200 artists, technicians and production personnel at a time when opportunities are scarce.
A Dozen Dreams is an immersive theatrical walk-through experience that portrays the quarantine dreams of 12 of America’s most prolific women playwrights, from Pulitzer Prize and OBIE Award winners Martyna Majok and Lucy Thurber to the most exciting emerging artists. From May 13-30th, an all-women design team is creating a room for each dream through sets, lights, video and sound at Brookfield Place, presented by Arts Brookfield.
Our second offering, Downtown Live, is a performing arts festival featuring musicians, short plays, and performance artists. Sponsored by the Downtown Alliance, the lineup includes Off-Broadway stalwart writer/performer David Greenspan and stage and screen veteran Eisa Davis, with over 30 performances of 9 different performing groups across 3 locations. Downtown Live runs May 15-16 and 22-23.
Tickets to Downtown Live and A Dozen Dreams are free of charge. We hope you will make a tax deductible donation to En Garde Arts so that you can help us to enliven the cultural life of New York City by creating and producing ground-breaking work.
