Stage Acting Workshop
Workshop Title: Acting for the TheatreOverview: This 5-day immersive workshop is designed for aspiring and early-career stage actors who want to build a strong foundation in theatrical performance. Through hands-on training in voice, movement, character development, and scene study, participants will gain the tools they need to bring truthful, engaging performances to the stage. The week concludes with a professional head shot session and a final showcase of prepared scenes or monologues. Dates: September 8 – 12, 2025 Time: 6 PM – 8 PM daily Location: Empire Arts Center Ages: Teens and adults 16+ Tuition: $275 (includes professional head shot session and digital delivery of final images)/$300 After August 31, 2025. Workshop Schedule Day 1: Voice & Movement for the Stage • Vocal projection, breath support, and articulation • Movement exercises to build body awareness and presence • Introduction to stage blocking and physical storytelling Day 2: Character & Text Work • Introduction to script and character analysis • Objectives, obstacles, and tactics • Breaking down monologues and scenes Day 3: Scene Work Begins • Rehearsal of selected scenes with partners • Blocking, beat work, and emotional connection • Group feedback and coaching Day 4: Rehearsal + Headshot Prep • Intensive rehearsal and polishing of final scenes • Wardrobe consultation and posing tips for headshots • Confidence and audition technique mini-session Day 5: Headshots + Final Performance Showcase • Professional headshot session with experienced photographer • In-class performance of scenes and/or monologues • Celebration and reflection What You’ll Walk Away With: • A professional digital headshot • One fully rehearsed scene or monologue • Foundational tools in voice, movement, and character work • Confidence and direction for future stage auditions Instructor: Kelly Clow is a professional actor, director and voice over artist from Tampa, FL with over 40 years experience in stage, film, television and commercials. Some of Kelly's credits include Universal Studios Orlando, The Walt Disney World Resort, SeaWorld, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Hasbro, NBCUniversal, The Second City Chicago and numerous stage productions and tours. Moviemaking Camp for Teens 2025
This two-week movie-making camp will take 12- through 18-year-old students through the process of brainstorming, writing, editing, directing, filming, and producing a short film. It will also allow them to cast their films from actors outside the camp, hence involving additional area youth. The finished, short movies will be screened at the Empire Art Center on the large screen in the auditorium, preceded by a Red-Carpet event so family, friends, and community members can view this unique locally produced film. The dates of the camp are August 4 through August 7 and August 11 through August 14. Students will meet at the Empire at 1PM each day of the camp and participate in camp activities until 5PM each day. The Red-Carpet Movie Premiere will be held on Thursday, August 21, at 6PM. Each student will receive 4 complimentary tickets for the event to distribute to friends and family. Tuition for the camp is $225/student with registration through July 21.
