Empire 2023-24 Film Club

The Empire 2023-24 film club is good for admission to the following films and film series:

1 - Golden Age of Horror Film Series - October 22, 29, November 5, and 12.
2 - Nosferatu - 1922 silent film with live music - shows on October 30 at 8 pm and 11 pm
3 - Tennessee Williams Film Series - January 7, 14, 21, 28, and February 18
4 - Northern Noir Film Series - March 10, 17, 24, and 31
5 - Classic Sci-Fi Series - Spring 2024 - Dates to be announced

Film Club membership is $100 + fees and taxes for a total of $116.50 for credit or debit card or $108 for cash or check.  Members can use their membership for one admission to each film listed, for a total of 18 films. Film club membership includes 1 popcorn for each film. 

Northern Noir Film Series 2024
This film series package covers 1 admission to each of the films in the Northern Noir Film Series 2024 plus 1 popcorn for each film. The films are:

March 2 - The Maltese Falcon
March 10 - Laura
March 17 - Gilda
March 24 - Out of the Past
March 31 - Criss Cross
Films will be screened at the Empire Arts Center at 2 pm each Sunday as noted. The price for the Northern Noir Film Series 2024 package is $35 and includes all tax and fees.
The Northern Noir Film Series 2024 is presented by Harry's Steakhouse and The Empire Arts Center.
Moviemaking Camp for Teens
This two-week movie-making camp will take 12- through 18-year-old students through the process of brainstorming, writing, editing, directing, filming, and producing a short film. It will also allow them to cast their films from actors outside the camp, hence involving additional area youth. The finished, short movies will be screened at the Empire Art Center on the large screen in the auditorium, preceded by a Red-Carpet event so family, friends, and community members can view this unique locally produced film.  

The dates of the camp are July 29 through August 1 and August 5 through 8. Students will meet at the Empire at noon each day of the camp and participate in camp activities until 5 pm each day. The Red-Carpet Movie Premiere will be held on Sunday, August 11 at 5 pm. Each student will receive 4 complimentary tickets for the event to distribute to friends and family. 

Tuition for the camp id $200/student. A limited number of scholarships are available.

ETC Academy
EMPIRE THEATRE ACADEMY


In this five-week academy, students ages 14-19 will rehearse She Kills Monsters (a non-musical) by Qui Nguyen. Throughout the academy, students will learn how to analyze text, character development, voice projection, stage movement, working with props, theatre protocols, audition techniques, and resume writing taught by visiting professional theatre artists and academy director, Ryan King.

Empire Theatre Academy runs for 7 weeks.
June 2-6, 9-13, 16-20, 23-27, 30-July 2, 7-10 from 6 to 9 pm daily. Performances of She Kills Monsters will be July 11-13. Each participant will receive 2 complimentary tickets to distribute. 

ABOUT THE PLAY
She Kills Monsters tells the story of high schooler Agnes Evans as she deals with the death of her younger sister, Tilly. When Agnes stumbles upon Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister’s refuge. The plot takes place in reality and in the imaginary game world; In the game world Agnes embarks on an action-packed quest to save her sister's soul, coming face to face with homicidal fairies, raunchy ogres and blood thirsty cheerleaders, learns about Tilly's exploration with her sexuality and discovers a side of herself she never knew existed.

Participation in the Empire Theatre Academy is by video audition. Please send a 1-min. video performing a monologue or reciting a poem to etc@empireartscenter.com by May 1st. Sixteen people will be accepted. Twelve will be cast in the show, four will serve as understudies and either assistant to the director, stage manager, light, or sound operator, prop master, or costume assistant. Cost for the 7 week workshop is $175.
