We believe these books are valuable, enhance our understanding of the shared human experience, and are worthy of widespread audiences. The book club will include both in-person and virtual gatherings. More information will be available upon registration. Participants will be expected to provide their own copy of the book. You will need access to a laptop or phone to log into Zoom for the virtual sessions. Zoom links for virtual sessions will be sent to you a few days before each event. This is a 5-part series, 4 virtual touchpoints and a live wrap up event in the Penumbra Theatre. The series is free, but requires registration. Lead Person(s): Hasenna Abbas Hamzawala and Eshay BrantleyPositive Racial Identity Development & Empowerment (PRIDE) Over MEA is a 3-day mini-course with Penumbra-trained educators and Teaching Artists. Students will explore and celebrate PRIDE through theater-based activities, storytelling, movement and guided discussions. Participants will (1) build meaningful connections to self and community, (2) engage in joyful learning, play and artistic expression, (3) Gain tools to navigate identity-based conversations, (4) Affirm cultural strengths of young people and (5) Experience inclusive spaces that center BIPOC voices and experiences while welcoming ALL participants into reflection, joy and connection. This workshop is for children in Kindergarten, grades 1-2, grades 3-4 and grade 5 (only 7 slots per group). Boxed lunch and snacks provided daily, bring a refillable water bottle. This is an interactive, participatory event--come ready to move, share and create in community. Dress for the weather, as we may be going outside. All materials provided . Caregivers/parents are invited to gather for coffee/connection each morning while children settle in. Workshops are FREE, but registration is required. Registrants will be provided a detailed registration form under separate email. Participants must attend all 3 sessions |
