About Face Theatre
Since 1995, About Face Theatre has been a national leader in producing theatre by queer artists that tell queer stories. Through bold theatre and arts-based educational programs, our work celebrates the persistence and joy of queer identities while shining a spotlight on the social inequalities impacting LGBTQIA+ people. We invite you to be part of our affirming community by attending a show or event and donating to AFT.
First Floor Theater
First Floor Theater staged stories of individuals facing moments of radical change. Through visceral acting, immersive design, and collaborative dramaturgy, FFT expands these stories to ask urgent social questions.
Founded in 2012, First Floor Theater has garnered a reputation for pairing some of the most cutting edge scripts in Chicago and the American Theater with a signature innovative design style. Shortly after our inaugural season, FFT was named “Best New Theater Company” in the Chicago Reader. We were also honored to be recognized with the 2018 Francesca Primus Prize from ATCA for our production of Leah Nanako-Winkler’s Two Mile Hollow, and in Newcity’s Players 2019: “The Fifty People Who Really Perform for Chicago”. Some of First Floor’s notable twenty-two past productions include Hooded or Being Black for Dummies, Mike Pence Sex Dream, Two Mile Hollow, peerless and Plano. Learn more here.
You Make It Possible.
As a non-profit theater committed to keeping our ticket prices accessible, our box office typically accounts for only 37% of our operating income. The rest of our budget comes from generous foundational support….and individual donors like you.
Your gift unlocks the potential for brand new plays and creates a space for our community to listen, reflect, and share in resonance with what it means to experience and foster space for radical change.
First Floor Theater is a 501(c)3 organization and any contribution is tax-deductible under federal and state law.
