The Abel López Leadership Fund
Help Honor Unsung Latinx Leaders by Supporting The Abel López Award for Excellence in Arts Leadership
This Award was established by GALA Theatre in response to the need of recognizing unsung Latinx leaders and tell their stories. The purpose of the award is to encourage leadership in the arts as distinguished by those qualities exhibited by Abel López over his career and service to the arts. The award will be presented to a Latinx individual or organization that has made or is making a significant impact in the Latinx arts community, whether they are just beginning their career or are well established. Each awardee will receive an honorarium averaging $2,000.
2026 Spring Campaign
Help Us Raise $10,000 before June 30 to meet a
Matching Grant from the Morris & Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation
Queridos amigos,
First of all I want to say how deeply grateful we are to all of you who contributed to our Noche de Estrellas on May 20 or who have donated throughout this season. Your support will allow us to serve our community through programs that are effective and impactful; contribute to the economic vitality of the region; and, more importantly, promote a sense of inclusivity and belonging for those subjected to questionable treatment merely because of where they came from, the language they speak, or who they are.
But we have ONE more challenge to meet before we close our 50th anniversary season. We can secure a $10,000 matching grant from the Morris & Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation that will help us open our exciting upcoming artistic season, as well as increase the number of multicultural students who participate in our nationally acclaimed Paso Nuevo Youth Arts Program.
IF you have not donated this season, or would like to enhance a previous donation, please donate NOW. Your donation will unlock an additional $10,000 in general operating funds for GALA and will strengthen the following initiatives:
• $100 - $500 supports reduced tickets for students to attend a matinee at GALA.
• $501 - $1,000 supports a scholarship for a student to attend our Paso Nuevo program
• $1,001 - $2,000 supports the production of a main stage musical
We look forward to seeing you in September for the grand opening of our 51st season with an exciting new play, “Garbo: The Actor who Saved the World”, by our own Artistic Director, Gustavo Ott.
Thank you for making it possible to envision and create a world where artists and the arts are acknowledged for their contributions to society and reflect the rich diversity of their own communities.
Muchas gracias por su apoyo.
