Annual Fund
As a nonprofit theatre and performing arts education-focused organization, Spokane Civic Theatre relies on the dedication and generosity of our growing community to underwrite critical program services, namely education expenses and production costs.
Last season, 61% of Spokane Civic Theatre's $1.2M budget was spent on personnel (including full-time staff, hourly employees and 132 independent contractors (directors, musicians, designers, backstage crew, teaching artists, and more)). Production and education expenses including costumes, set supplies, materials, and licensing fees were the next largest category of expenses, totaling 24% of the budget.
For decades, Civic has been a creative haven for some and a source of community and entertainment for others. To date, Civic has mounted more than 800 productions; has represented the Lilac City at local, national and international festivals and has fostered throngs of artists, entertainment professionals and educators.
You help sustain Civic’s ongoing creation of art and development of artists, creators and community when you choose to contribute to our annual fund.
Thank you for advancing Spokane Civic Theatre’s Mission-driven, history-grounded, living legacy.

1CIVIC — Capital Campaign
Since 1967, Spokane Civic Theatre’s home on Howard Street has been a creative haven for some and a source of community and entertainment for others. In recent years, development in our area—downtown Spokane’s North Bank neighborhood—has boomed.
In spring 2020, when plans for a 5,000+ seat outdoor stadium, 140 feet east of Civic’s facility, were released, Civic Board Members and management went to task, researching soundproofing solutions and exploring long-overdue renovation ideas, determined to illuminate a bright future for Civic.
PROJECT PRIORITIES:
- Sound mitigating barriers, cementing operability of Civic’s 27,00 square foot facility (specifically east side and roofs)
- An addition with a permanent home for Civic Education, a dedicated rehearsal space, administrative offices, and space for a hospitality collaboration
- Facility-wide ADA accessibility enhancements
- Redesigned environmental and mechanical controls, paving the way for a more energy-efficient and sustainable facility (constructed 57 years ago)
- Relocated Studio Theatre entrance from east to south side of facility for east side soundproofing and improved accessibility
Invest in Spokane arts and history—participate in Civic’s 57 year-old facility renovation and create more space for more art, artists, educational opportunities, economic development, strategic partnerships, and community investment.
