There is a longstanding disparity in terms of labor, wealth distribution, and fair treatment. Recent efforts to organize labor at New York City arts institutions have highlighted the realities of these tensions. Whose labor is being used to generate the immense wealth circulating the art world? What does the future of labor look like for cultural workers? In Art Work: Whose Labor? we are seeking to explore who is still missing from this conversation, how we can better promote solidarity in the industry, and what has prevented the understanding of art-work as labor for so long.
