The Red Ribbon Revue
Sunday, December 1, 2019 at 7:00PM

Abrons Arts Center, Playhouse Theater
466 Grand Street
New York, NY 10002

The Red Ribbon Revue is a World AIDS Day celebration of songwriters with HIV/AIDS. A cast of HIV-positive performers will bring new life to songs by those lost to the virus and those who survive. From The Little Mermaid to Dreamgirls, from Paul Jabara to Freddie Mercury, from “It’s Raining Men” to “Forget About the Boy,” the work by these songwriters brims with hope, desire, and love. In the face of fear and grief, these writers speak of joy and looking to the future.

This World AIDS Day, these songs will become a bold declaration of life. Poz performers from Broadway, classical music and New York nightlife will share their stories and celebrate the lives they continue to live. Even though HIV no longer needs to be a death sentence, the stigma that persists can make it dangerous for many to disclose their status or seek treatment. The Red Ribbon Revue is a night for those able to live openly to raise their voices in hope of dismantling that stigma one note at a time so more and more might feel they can do the same. It is a night to say to the world: we’ll be here tomorrow.
